Houston Texans vs Seattle Seahawks Preview

Updated: September 25, 2013

The Seattle Seahawks routed the Jacksonville Jaguars 45-17 at home and improved to 3-0. This week they will travel to Reliant Stadium where they will be welcomed by the Houston Texans who took a beating from the Baltimore Ravens last week as they lost 30-9 on the road.

The Seattle Seahawks dominated the worst team in the league and the game was done by halftime as the Seattle was 24-0 at the end of the second quarter against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Seahawks defense shut down the Maurice Jones-Drew as he was only able to run for 43 yards on 19 carries. As a team, the Jaguars only managed to run for 51 yards on 24 yards averaging only 2.1 yards per carry. Seattle just close every hole on defense and did not led the Jaguars make any big play. The defense also did a great job of pressuring Chad Henne who was sacked 3 times for a loss of 21 yards and he threw for two interceptions. Offensively, it was just another day at the office for Russell Wilson who threw for 202 yards on only 14 completions and finished the game with four touchdowns. The Seahawks ground attack was also present as it accumulated 156 rushing yards on 36 yards. However , this week  Seattle will be going up against one of the elite defense in the league. The Texans defense is ranked 2nd  in the league in passing yards allowed per game and 9th in rushing yards allowed. The Houston secondary has really improved from last year and allows only 157 passing yards per game. The Texans defense also plays a lot better at home and the Seahawks know this with be a defensive battle between both times. The Seahawks will have to get the ground game going in order to keep the Texans on their feet and to open the field to make some plays in the air.  Also, the Seahawks feisty secondary will most likely get some double coverage on Andre Johnson and force another Texans player to beat them.

The Houston Texans have not looked impressive so far as they have close games against teams that are no where near their caliber.  This week they faced an elite team and were blown out on the road against the Ravens.  Matt Schuab and the Houston offense failed to reach the end zone for the first time this season and really just looked horrible. Schuab threw for only 194 yards and threw one interceptions while Arian Foster was limited to only 54 rushing yards on 12 carries. However, this week the offense will absolutely have click as a unit or else it will get very ugly for the Texans.  The Texans  are going up against arguably the best defense In the league who allow an average of 9 points per game and have the best secondary the league that allows only 146.7 passing yards per game. Also, the Texans will need Andre Johnson to step up and start producing as he has been very quiet so far this season and has  left early in games due to an injury that has been nagging him. Houston really does not have another threat to Seattle’s secondary. Arian Foster get more carries in this game as it should be able to move the ball and make some big plays. Seattle has a good rush defense but, has allowed over 100 yards rushing in two of their games against teams that do not having a star running back like Foster. Houston knows this game will be tough but, this really a big game for them at home and  it will show them where they stand  in the league.

Final Score Prediction: Houston Texans 21, Seattle Seahawks 17
