New York Jets vs Tennessee Titans Pick and Prediction – 14/12/14

Updated: December 11, 2014

Despite another a solid performance, the New York Jets fell apart in crucial moments of the game to drop their third straight as they fell in overtime 30-24 on the road to the Minnesota Vikings.  The defense allowed Vikings receiver Jarius Wright to run for 87 yard touchdown off a bubble screen to seal the win for the home team. It was just a collapse for the defense which had played really well in this game.  Despite throwing an interception on the first pass of the game, Jets quarterback Geno Smith played well as he completed 18 of 29 pass attempts for one touchdown.    The Jets have the talent to compete but, poor decisions have cost them a lot of games this season and a lot of the blame must be put on the coaching staff. If Jets lose their remaining games this season, Rex Ryan is done.

The Tennessee Titans dropped their seven straight games this season as they were embarrassed 36-7 at home by the New York Giants.  The Giants entered halftime with a 23 – 0 lead and had already sealed the win before the Titans scored their first points of the game. The Titans were awful on both sides of the football, especially on offense.  Rookie quarterback Zack Mettenberger completed only 14 of 24 pass attempts for 125 yards and one interception.  Backup Jake Locker replaced the rookie late but, was not any better as he was picked off once as well and was unable to throw a touchdown pass.    In fact, it was the defense that scored on an interception return as the offense produced zero points. This game against the Jets is really all about pride as there is nothing else to play for.
