Oakland Raiders vs Kansas City Chiefs Pick and Prediction 20/11/14

Updated: November 17, 2014

The Kansas City Chiefs picked up a signature win this past weekend as they held on to defeat the Seattle Seahawks 24-20 at home.  The Chiefs improved to 7-3 this season and currently find themselves tied with the Denver Broncos for first place in the division.  A lot of the credit for this win has to go to running back Jamaal Charles who ran for 159 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries against one of the top defense in the league.  The Chiefs were dominated by the Seahawks in terms of time of possession but, unlike the visitors , they were efficient on their drives and capitalized on their scoring opportunities. Quarterback Alex Smith finished with only 108 passing yards and zero touchdowns while completing 11 of 16 pass attempts.  The Chiefs have been improving each week and are really applying pressure on the Broncos are struggling as of late.  They have a quit easy schedule left which gives the advantage in the race for first place.

The Oakland Raiders delivered a strong performance on the road against the San Diego Chargers but, failed to pick up a win as they lost their 10th straight this season 13-6.  The Raiders defense did a great job slowing down Phillip Rivers and the Chargers offense but, the offense failed to provide any support at all.  The Raiders offense only converted nine first downs and put 233 total yards.  Quarterback Derek Carr finished with 172 passing yards and zero touchdowns while completing 16 of 34 pass attempts. One of the major problems with the Raiders offense has been their inability to make big plays. The play calling has been questionable and limited to short passes.  If the Raiders want to beat the Chiefs, they will need to take shots deep and take risks.

Betting consensus:  The Kansas City Chiefs are favored by -7.5 on the road against the Oakland Raiders with 70% of the early public sliding with the road team.

Prediction:  Oakland Raiders 23, Kansas City Chiefs 20

Pick:  Oakland Raiders +7.5
