2013 US Open Men’s Day 4 Recap

After a couple of days which were disturbed by rain,  day 4 at the 2013 Us Open went according to plan. All the matches were played  according to schedule without any setbacks or any delays.  The favorite to win tournament and second seed Rafael Nadal  was an action on day four as he he played against Brazilian Rogerio Dutra Silva and easily disposed of him in straight sets 6-2 6-1 6-0.  It really seemed as if Nadal could better as the sets progressed. Silva just could not keep up with the Spaniard who fill now face Ivan Dodig in the third round.

7th seed and fan favorite Roger Federer was also in action as he cruised past Argentinian Carlos Berlocq in straight sets 6-3 6-2 6-1. Federer looked in great shape. Roger Federer is taking it one game at a time but, he surely is looking forward to a potential matchup with Rafael Nadal which can potential decided the outcome of the 2013 US Open.

Australian Bernard Tomic was upset by Daniel  Evans in four sets 6-1 3-6 7-6 6-3.   Tomic really came out flat and his serve really looked weak. He also appeared to be fatigued and almost lost his composure at one point. The young man has a lot of potential but, has not always played consistently. Furthermore, Daniel Evans just added another upset to his resume as he recently beat Kei Nishikori in the previous round.

American Bradley Klahn will have to pack his bags as he was ousted by 23rd seeded Spaniard Feliciano Lopez. Lopez will now have to face 10th seed Milos Raonic in the third round who was also in action today as he eliminated Pablo Andujar in straight sets 6-1 6-2 6-4.

Another potential American player to win the tournament  was eliminated today and probably was one of the biggest upsets on day four. Sam Querrey fell to Frenchman Adrian Mannarino  6-7 6-7 7-6 4-6. It was a tough match for Querrey who just could seem to be able to break the French player and will now have to wait till next to make a run at US Open title.

Also America’s biggest hope to win the 2013 Us Open is still alive as John Isner won a hard fought match against Gael Monfils 7-5 6-2 4-6 7-6. Isner has always had a tough time against Monfils but, he really  played well in the match and will now meet Philipp Kohlschreiber in the third round.

Furthermore, young American Jack Sock eliminated Maximo Gonzalez in four sets 7-6 1-6 7-5 6-2, 19th seeded Spaniard cruised past Frank Dancevic in straight sets 6-4 6-4 6-1, 8th seed Richard Gasquet outsed his compatriot Stephane Robert 6-3 7-5 7-5, Philipp Kohlschreiber  edged out Edouard Roger-Vasselin in four sets with a scorecard of 6-3 6-2 5-7 6-2, Serbian Janko Tipsarevic easily disposed of Dudi Sela in straight sers 6-4 6-4 6-1, Russian Mikhail Kukushkin eliminated Andreas Haider-Maurer in straight sets as well 6-4 6-4 7-5, Ivan Dodig beat Nikolay Davydenko 6-1 6-4 6-4, 32nd seed Dmitry Tursunov won as Frenchman Guillaume Rufin retired in the second set and finally, 4th seed David Ferrer was challenged but won against his fellow Spaniard compatriot Roberto Bautista Agut in four sets 6-3 6-7 6-1 6-2.
