Juan Martin Del Potro was poised to make a big run at the  2013 US Open has he was in great form and was entering tournament with a lot of momentum.   He had just recently won the tournament at Washington and played extremely Well at his previous tournament at Cincinnati.  Furthermore, he was 20-6 on hard court this year and really showed the world he can compete with any player on the tournament after his performance in the semi-finals at Wimbledon against Novak Djokovic.  He lost a five set thriller against Djokovic but, he really played his heart out and won the crowd who gave him a standing ovation after the match. After this match, he made it clear that will be a tough opponent to beat and wil compete for Grand slam title in a era where Murray, Federer, Nadal and Djokovic are dominating.
